This award recognises an individual who has made a lasting and meaningful contribution to rural Britain, shaping communities, industries and the future of the countryside through their dedication and impact. It is the lifetime achievement award of the night.

How this award is decided

The Outstanding Contribution to Rural Britain Award is by nomination only. The recipient is selected by the Panel Chair in consultation with the senior judges and the awards’ founders. There is no public shortlist for this category.

Who can be nominated

Anyone whose career, public service or sustained personal work has had a lasting impact on rural Britain, operators, leaders, advocates, public figures. The recipient does not have to be British; they do have to have made the British countryside materially better.

Nominating

To nominate someone for the Outstanding Contribution Award, email awards@theruralbusinessawards.co.uk with a one-page case and any supporting context. Nominations close in summer 2026.

Entry Tips

  • Use specific figures — revenue, %, headcount, acreage, customers served.
  • Back claims with evidence: coverage, quotes, accreditations, photos.
  • Focus on the last 24 months of performance.
  • Read the criteria carefully and answer them directly.
