The Rural Innovation or Innovator Award
Celebrating the ideas, technologies and approaches transforming rural industries.
The Rural Innovation or Innovator Award 2026. The ideas, technologies and approaches transforming rural industries.
What this award recognises
Innovation in rural Britain rarely makes the front pages. This award changes that. It honours the businesses and individuals whose new ideas, technologies and approaches are transforming rural industries, driving productivity, sustainability and the future of rural Britain.
What judges are looking for
- Novelty. A genuine new approach – not a marketing repositioning.
- Application. Evidence the innovation is in the market and doing what it says.
- Productivity, sustainability or social impact – measurable improvement to a rural sector or community.
- Defensibility – what makes this hard to copy, or hard to do without.
- Recognition of the people behind the work – individuals can be entered alongside the business.
Who should enter
Agri-tech businesses, rural product designers, on-farm engineers, digital platforms for rural sectors, conservation innovators, supply chain reinventors – and the individuals leading the work.
Entry Tips
- Use specific figures — revenue, %, headcount, acreage, customers served.
- Back claims with evidence: coverage, quotes, accreditations, photos.
- Focus on the last 24 months of performance.
- Read the criteria carefully and answer them directly.
