What this award recognises

Rural Britain’s future depends on the businesses building the infrastructure beneath it, connectivity, transport, energy, professional services, digital platforms and the agri-tech making the sector productive. The Future of Rural Britain Award recognises the companies enabling rural Britain to thrive through technology, infrastructure and innovation. “The companies that make rural Britain work.”

What judges are looking for

  • A demonstrable contribution to rural infrastructure, connectivity, productivity or services.
  • Evidence that the business is enabling other rural enterprises, not just selling to them.
  • Scale of impact – how many rural businesses, communities or hectares affected.
  • Innovation in approach – and a credible roadmap for the next three to five years.
  • Commercial sustainability – businesses that are themselves built to last.

Who should enter

Connectivity providers, rural energy and renewables businesses, agri-tech, rural professional services, logistics and infrastructure businesses — any company whose product or service is helping rural Britain do its work better.

Entry Tips

  • Use specific figures — revenue, %, headcount, acreage, customers served.
  • Back claims with evidence: coverage, quotes, accreditations, photos.
  • Focus on the last 24 months of performance.
  • Read the criteria carefully and answer them directly.
