Rural Rising Star Award

The Rural Rising Star of the year Award

Enter This Category All Categories

This award recognises the next generation of rural business leaders — individuals showing exceptional ambition, innovation and early success in shaping the future of rural Britain.

It is not a “young person award” in the patronising sense; it is a serious credential for the people who will run rural Britain in 2035.

What judges are looking for

 • Demonstrable early success — what the rising star has already shipped, built or led.
 • Ambition and trajectory — what they’re aiming at, and the credibility of the path.
 • Leadership in action — team, mentors, peers, influence.
 • Resilience — what they’ve already learned the hard way.
 • Sector contribution — beyond their own business: voice, advocacy, mentoring.

Who should enter

Anyone aged 35 or under in a UK rural business — founders, senior employees, family-business next-generation. Self-nominations and third-party nominations both welcome.

Entry Tips

 • Use specific figures — revenue, %, headcount, acreage, customers served.
 • Back claims with evidence: coverage, quotes, accreditations, photos.
 • Focus on the last 24 months of performance.
 • Read the criteria carefully and answer them directly.
